Personalities & Dealers:

Dealers in General:

Overview of the dealers that one encounters on this flight

Dealer - Sieger:

Sieger was one of the most prolific creator of covers for collectors of this flight and other Zeppelin flights. But there are actually two different types of covers on this flight: preprinted envelopes used in Rio and hand typed versions out of Bahia. And even among both groups there is a large amount of varieties for the specialist.

Dealer - von Meister:

This chapter deals with von Meister the dealer, not the numbers whose description appears else where. vM created quite a lot of philatelic covers, mainly with US addresses. Yet there are a whole lot of glitches, such as covers canceled in the US and covers that went to Europe instead.

Dealer – Roessler:

This section takes a look of all the cards and envelopes that carry Roessler cachets and notations: cards and envelopes sent by collector customers as well as by Roessler's outfit itself.

Dealer – Newark Stamp Co./The Bernet Family:

Using Roessler envelopes printed with an additional Zeppelin cachet, these brothers created a quite colorful and distinctive series of covers for themselves and their customers on this flight.

Dealer – Heck/Friedrichshafen:

A review of the Zeppelin philatelic covers, including also the 5$000/20$000 varieties. Heck also supplied a few other dealers with covers.

Personality – Gruen/Cincinnati:

The “Gruen” covers, that are often seen, are the work of a family member of the Gruen Watch Co.

Dealer – Dewitz:

This dealer, who was based in southern Germany, seems to have had a numbering system of his. This consisted of a Gothic capital D and 4 numbers. There is evidence for a cooperation with Mrs. Rascher.

Dealer – Mrs. Rascher:

It would seem that a great many of her covers were created and sent with the cooperation of several other dealers, prominent among them Dewitz

Louis Guenzel:

Difficult to tell whether this was a dealer, but his covers as well as at least one sent to another person have traces of a numbering system.

Charles Winchell:

Picture post cards of the Zeppelin with a red 5-digit number on the reverse in the lower left corner.

Walter Behrens:

The famous new issues house in Braunschweig was also, in a big way, into the Zeppelin flights service too.

Rudolf Friedl:

One of the premier Austrian/Viennese dealers also, with help from Costa & Filhos, have covers for this flight prepared.

Dr. Karl Blümel:

A dealer located in Magdeburg, has quite a few covers on this flight baring his name.
