Destinations:

Bahia I:

This contribution examines letters sent to be dropped in Bahia by the “Chicago Gang”. Contrary to an “expert” opinion, my take is that these letters were neither on the Zeppelin nor dropped over the city, they went the old fashioned way. Furthermore, this is a classic case of where an expert's opinion erroneously opined about the relative scarcity of these covers without really having a sufficient census of these covers.

Bahia II:

This contribution looks at the “Owens” covers, which never had any Zeppelin stamps on them. These cards were sent on all infra-Brazil routes, including to Bahia.

Pernambuco-Rio:

A recent Zeppelin forum discussion was the cause for me to examine this special leg of the 1930 Zeppelin flight, as it arrived in Brazil

Out of Buenos Aires:

Here I present the evidence that the catalogs stating that Brazilian franked covers sent from Argentina were canceled in Pernambuco, actually were canceled in Rio. This evidence caused Sieger to actually change his latest catalog edition.

Czechoslovakia/Sudetenland:

Discussion of letters sent from German immigrants in Brazil to areas known as the Sudetenland and the route taken from Friedrichshafen.

France:

Research has shown that the majority of the letters with French destinations were already off-loaded in Seville. Yet some letters were first conveyed to Friedrichshafen and then entered the French mail stream.

Havana, San Juan and Points South:

Here I look at the famous Roessler “Parachute” covers and covers in general sent to the Canal Zone, Cuba, Haiti and Puerto Rico.
