Brazilian Philately: The Pan Am Zeppelin Flight of 1930

The Cancellation Vade Mecum

In this section, we'll gather every cancel together that either appears on the front or the reverse of any cover we get our hands on, including scans. The list is sorted by country. The cancels included the special ones created for this flight as well as any and all city/town and other types of postal markings that appear on the covers linked to the specific country of origin or destination. For all those possible critics out there, this section will never be “complete”, it is and will always be a “work in progress”, as is the whole site. Below are links to selected countries (which will grow with time).

Brazil: Detailed expose of the Rio de Janeiro and Recife (including the XXL cachet), along with examples of other Condor cancels seen on this flight. Also, in some cases, later cancels that should never be seen on covers from this flight.

Canal Zone, Cuba, Haiti and Puerto Rico: The Caribbean and Central America is covered.

Europe -Assorted: This includes, presently, Czechoslovakia, Portugal and Switzerland.

Germany: The Friedrichshafen arrival cancellations that appear on the covers are demonstrated here along with some statistics of their use and idiosyncrasies that occur.

North America: Canada

Spain: Mainly the Seville cancels (but other cities are present) and their interplay with the green NY13 US cancels that were applied to US covers upon arrival in the US.

The United States of America: An in depth analysis of the Lakehurst and New York 13 green arrival cancels and their correlation with other flight aspects.
